Muthu shapes every curve on the cups by hand on a wheel. He glazes it grey, then blue, and fires it twice to get the unique textures. No two cups come out looking the same.

Wider at the base, narrower through the body, flared out at the rim. The form is the whole point of this cup, and Aakar (आकार) in Hindi means exactly that: geometrical form. Wheel-thrown in Pondicherry, finished in a food-safe, lead-free glaze, and fired twice at 1260°C. A grey glaze sets in the first firing, then the cup is dipped in blue and fired again, and the speckled band that comes out falls in a different place on every piece.
