Maati (माटी), Hindi for Soil, a tumbler whose surface resembles textures shifting between beige and black like soil at dusk. Wheel thrown in Pondicherry by Muthu, layered with two lead free glazes and wood fired twice at 1260°C that seals the surface and makes it food safe. Where the heat rises stronger, the glazes react and warm beige emerges, and the rest settles into deep black.
